Barcelona is Beautiful!

What a beautiful city, Barcelona.  Palm trees.  Blue skies.  Blue water, too.  Amazing architecture which makes for a diverse, interesting skyline.

Of course, I'm probably a little biased.  How can I not be enamored with a city who loves all my favorite things?!  Besides blue skies, palm trees, and beautiful water, they serve up fresh squid in every way imaginable ~ fried calamari strips, grilled little whole squid, in salads, in Paella, even for breakfast.

And tapas ~ my favorite way to eat!   Little portions of lots of delicious dishes.  A wonderful way to indulge and not overindulge.   Doesn't this look like just the right size to share with someone you love?

And their favorite dessert here is the Spanish version of Creme' Brulee ~ mine too!   We learned to make this at our cooking class yesterday.  Yes, we'll be making that for our International Dinner back home.  And yes, you're invited!

(Watch out!  I'm armed and dangerous!)

They have done a beautiful job, here in Barcelona, of retaining the old-old, amongst all the modern.  You can lose yourself in the little alleyways of Old Town, and actually believe for a moment that time has passed you by.

We're in love with Barcelona so far ~ it's history, it's culture, it's food, and it's people.  Gotta run for now ~ We are headed to the famous Palau de la Musica Catalan Theater tonight for a concert of Flaminco Guitarists.  More later ~

  1. Sounds like a wonderful cooking class! Always great whenever you can play with fire AND make something that is like creme brule! Great blog! Left me wanting to walk down that street ~ and just waiting for you to hurry up and get back from the evenings performance and tell us all about it!
